PIRATES MOVE EAGLES FIXTURE DUE TO EXTENSION OF RESTRICTIONS

15/06/21

The Prime Minister's announcement on Monday to defer to the removal of Covid-19 restrictions until July 19th has prompted Poole Pirates chief Matt Ford to tweak the fixture list slightly in a bid to protect the longevity of the club.

Ford said "The effect of the social distancing measures that restricted numbers allowed in to watch at Wimborne Road for our meeting against Berwick, made it abundantly clear that our business would not be able to sustain such a level of losses on a weekly basis."

We have therefore, with the co-operation of the Eastbourne promotion, taken the decision to move our fixture planned for July 7th back until September 15th, allowing us to reduce the number of fixtures we stage under crowd number restraints.

"We will proceed with the fixture against the Kent Kings on Wednesday 30th June, which will be our next home meeting and will be subject to limited numbers, whilst the meeting planned for July 14th (against Glasgow) remains in the schedule at present, pending the Governments next review which, if the data allows, could permit us to have a greater number of fans in.

"I can also confirm that the second leg of our KO Cup tie against Plymouth will now be held on Wednesday 21st July.
"Whilst this stop-start approach is not ideal I am sure that our supporters will recognise that we are operating under exceptional circumstances and it is in the financial interests of the club to take these mitigating steps.

The Pirates travel to Plymouth on Tuesday June 22nd for the first leg of the Knockout Cup, a fixture that was previously washed out on May 25th, and their next two meetings after that will be against Kent, on Tuesday 29th at Central Park and Wimborne Road on 30th June.

Tickets for the Poole vs Kent fixture on 30th June will be available tomorrow, initially for parties of 4+
