HARBOUR MASTERS POSTPONED
For the second time this season, plans to stage the Harbour Masters Championship at Wimborne Road have been thwarted due to the weather.
The Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates have declared two of their seven starters for 2027, with returns confirmed for their teenage twosome, Will Cairns and Cooper Rushen, subject to BSPL approval.
Cairns will commence his third season as a Pirate, where he has established himself in the main body of the team with great competence. Likewise, 'Tassles', as Rushen is known affectionately, returns for his second season, looking to make similar strides to that achieved in his debut year.
Promoter Dan Ford announced their signings at the club's End of Season Party, claiming:
"It makes no sense for us to build a side without these two youngsters being able to play their part. There is so much more in both of them and that is kind of frightening when you reflect on just how well they have progressed since gaining their professional licences. The pair of them are both very self-critical and they are so determined to reach the very top in their careers, and it is a great joy to have them both wearing the skull and crossbones. I feel that their returns will be universally acclaimed amongst our fan base."
Cairns will start 2027 on a 6.45 average, whilst Rushen opens with a 5.01 figure.
