CAPTAIN COOK SAILS BACK IN

After the early curtailment of Friday's prestigious Darcy Ward Invitational Meeting, the disappointed Aussie along with Poole Speedway have agreed to reduce admission prices to The Pirates next event, on Wednesday 29 March versus Wolverhampton.
The preceding days heavy rain had left the Poole track full of moisture, and with the low evening temperature having a detrimental effect on track conditions, the riders collectively agreed it was unsafe to continue despite the concerted efforts of the track staff team to mitigate the conditions.
Speaking from his Australian home Ward said " I feel totally gutted for everyone who turned out to support me in my time of need. I was pumped by the large numbers that had attended but unfortunately the British weather was against us, even when I'm cooped up here at home in Australia. I also feel for the Poole promotion who were placed in an impossible position. I fully support and understand the decision of the riders, safety has to be first and we were all dealt an unfair hand by the climate.
We made a decision to offer a refund up to 6 heats as by that stage the expenses are the same as if the event had been completed. I hope everyone understands and discussed with Matt the morning after to see what it would be possible to do. "
Adult and concession prices will be reduced to just £12 with anyone under 16 being admitted free. ( Season Ticket holders will receive a free programme on the evening)
Club owner Matt Ford said " Darcy had gone to such great efforts to put on a show, and assembled an excellent field. We were all desperate to see Emil along with the other guys riding on behalf of our great friend, how cruel the weather has been to us over the last week or so. Like Darcy I hope this goes some way in making it up to the majority of the crowd on Friday, who made such a great effort to attend and support a truly worthwhile cause. We thank everyone for being so understanding."
