Poole's first visit of the week to the home of the Lakeside Hammers saw them fail to gain any league points in a truncated, rain-affected meeting. The contest was abandoned after 10 heats with the 35-26 score in favour of the home side, standing.
Proceedings were interrupted for a lengthy period after heat 7 was stopped as the rain continued to lash down, but once the rain stopped intense remedial work was done to the track to try and make it raceable. Fiour tricky heats were completed once the meeting resumed before an early result was called.
The Hammers, who have faint play-off hopes hit the Pirates hard from the outset with a 5-1 from the opening heat and whilst the Pirates through Kyle Newman and Benji Compton clawed two points back, the Hammers fired in a second 5-1 in heat 5 and then a 4-2 in the sixth to hold an 8 point advantage.
When Lakeside's reserve Adam Ellis fell in heat 7 Poole had hopes of reducing that deficit slightly, but a fall by Benji Compton scuppered those hopes as did Nilsson's defeat of Grajczonek in a 3-2 heat score. Richard Lawson and Lewis Bridger blasted in another maximum heat score in heat 8 before Newman and Morley became the only finishers of heat 9, this time Poole gaining from the single point difference.
A winning tactical ride from stand-in skipper Maciej Janowski earned the Pirates a 6-3 heat score , but that was to be the last of the action of the evening,
