EASTER PREVIEW
The Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates face a tough opening fixture on Good Friday (6pm) when they welcome Devonshire cousins Plymouth Gladiator...
Poole Speedway would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Darryl Ritchings following his spell in the team, with William Cairns set to come into the side ahead of our next home fixture against Glasgow on Wednesday 2nd July.
Darryl stepped into the Pirates side at short notice earlier this season and has made a significant impact both on and off the track. His commitment, professionalism, and team-first attitude have been hugely appreciated by everyone connected with the club.
Promoter Dan Ford paid tribute to Darryl, saying:
"We’ve really enjoyed working with Darryl — he’s exceeded our expectations and fitted into the group brilliantly. We’re genuinely sad to see him go, but we always knew Will would be joining us in July. Hopefully we’ll see Darryl in the skull and crossbones again, because he’s proven to himself and to everyone else that he deserves a Championship spot."
Darryl also shared his gratitude to the club and supporters:
“It’s been an absolute blast. From the moment I joined the team I felt welcome. Everyone has helped me from the very get-go.
The fans have been unreal — literally took me in as one of their own and, as a rider, that fills me with such confidence.
I don’t know what the future holds, but Poole has certainly been a step forward in my career. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity and hope nothing but success for a great club.
A massive thanks to the fans, sponsors and management — I hope one day we can work together again.
Until then,
Dazza”
Darryl departs having scored 18+4 points from 22 rides, with his standout performance coming in the Knockout Cup against Plymouth, where he delivered a match-winning 7+1 to help semi-final qualification.
