A generally all-round poor Poole performance against the side they were level with at the top of the table, saw the Dorset side crushed 58-32 at the Adrian Flux Arena, King's Lynn on Wednesday day.
It was a case of the away-day Wednesday blues for the Pirates who fell rapidly behind through four 5-1 reversals in the first five heats as the Stars ran amock, only a heat four victory from Chris Harris offering any early resistance.

It was a case of the away-day Wednesday blues for the Pirates who fell rapidly behind through four 5-1 reversals in the first five heats as the Stars ran amock, only a heat four victory from Chris Harris offering any early resistance.
Sixteen down, Harris and Woryna were able to share the spoils in heat 6 as Robert Lambert took command of the heat as the Pirates keept Erik Riss at bay, but within a further two heats the lack lustre Pirates went a further six behind, with the score after 8 heats a somewhat embarrasing 35-13 to the home side.
Woryna burst from the gate in heat 9 and for a short part of the race the Pirates were on a 5-1 but Proctor had the power to pass Harris and then withstood the pressure that Poole's star of the show, Harris bestowed upon him. It resulted in a 4-2 to the Pirates and they had to wait until heat 13 before being able to celebrate another race winner. This time it was Kurtz inflicting the only defeat of the night on Robert Lambert and Grajczonek backing up in third, as Iversen pulled up on the first circuit.
Richie Worrall then added his name to the short list of Pirate winners but Jakobsen couldn't dislodge his opposing reserve Michael Palm-Toft for a point. Lambert avenged for his only defeat of the evening beating Kurtz in the final heat of the night as Worrall failed to finish.
In the days of the 'aggregate bonus' the Pirates would have salvaged a point following their 61-29 thumping of the Stars at Wimborne Road in the corresponding fixture, the only crumb of consolation that could be gleamed from this under-par performance.
Nevertheless, with Somerset beating Wolverhampton the Pirates are 99% assured of a place in the final four to contest the play-offs with as Wolves would need maximum points from their last two matches and turn a points differential around, so a draw for the Pirates next Wednesday would seal their place along with King's Lynn, Somerset and Belle Vue.
