A faultless fifteen point maximum from Brady Kurtz and maiden race wins for all three of the Pirates' club debutants allowed Poole to become the first SGB Premiership to put some league points on the board.
Kurtz was in a class of his own as he cruised to an unbeaten performance, against the Aces who were missing number one Craig Cook, following the birth of his daughter on raceday, and the injured Steve Worrall, with Troy Batchelor and Richard Lawson deputising respectively.
Poole promoter Matt Ford was relieved on two counts, admitting "I was just pleased to eventually get a meeting on. It has been a long and frustrating wait for me as much as the fans and the riders. But I was pleased with the meeting. It was entertaining and it was good to see all our new boys pick up good points on the way. Brady was just simply superb throughout but once the rest of the lads settled down they provided excellent back-up. "
It was the Aces who eased into an early lead after Mateusz Szczepaniak, heading for an easy heat two win, broke down on the final circuit, allowing Bewley and Etheridge to pick up a 4-2 for the visitors. A win for Lawson over Grajczonek protected that slender lead but then Fricke and Bewley banked a 5-1 for the Manchester side, as Kildemand drifted from a scoring position to backmarker. Making it four Aces race winners on the bounce Paul Starke held firm against a battling Poole captain Josh Grajczonek as the Pirates trailed 12-18.
Under mounting pressure from Fricke in heat 6, Kurtz kept his cool to hold on for the win, this time he had Kacper Woryna backing up in third for Poole's first heat advantage of the season.
It sparked something of a revival for the home side, for in the space of the next three heats all club debutants - Peter Kildemand, Kacper Woryna and Linus Sundstrom - claimed their first wins in Poole colours.
Sundstrom's win with Grajczonek nipping at Fricke's heels was enough to level the scores at 27 a-piece and then Pirates didn’t look back from this point. Kurtz and Woryna racked up a 5-1, Kildemand and Szczepaniak following suit in heat 11.
Aces boss Mark Lemon deployed Fricke as a tactical substitute at the expense of Etheridge, whilst Middleditch's switch to bring in Szczepaniak for Shanes worked wonders as the Pole slipped by Lawson and somehow managed to hold on for the heat share.
Kurtz collected win number four and Kildemand seized on an opportunity to pass Batchelor, the Aces guest then sliding off but sportingly cleared the track as quickly as possible to avoid any race interruption.
A win from the tapes for Bewley in heat 14 kept the Aces in the hunt for a possible consolation point but another emphatic ride from Kurtz in the final heat dented those hopes.
The meeting concluded with the staging of the Pete Ansell Memorial Race which saw Linus Sundstrom take the honours from Grajzonek, Szczepaniak and Kurtz.
