PREVIEW: REDCAR 'AGILIA' BEARS v POOLE 'WESSEX MARINE' PIRATES - FRIDAY JUNE 16TH

15/06/23

Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates put their one hundred percent 2023 league record on the line when they make the tricky trek to Redcar on Friday (16th June).

Sitting proudly as joint leaders of the infant league table, the Pirates' trip will be their second of the season to the ECCO Arena, having won there in the BSN semi-final just four weeks ago.

So whilst there will be plenty of optimism in the Poole camp they will head into the meeting knowing that they will have to be at their sharpest if they are to extend their solid start to the season.

Poole promoter Dan Ford admitted "confidence is such a big thing in speedway and I don't feel that any of our guys are lacking in it at the moment, but that doesn't mean we don't need to remain focused.  They [Redcar] have bounced back very strongly after suffering two defeats to us in the BSN competition, managing home and away successes over Glasgow in the cup before posting their biggest league score for something like six years. They have also welcomed back Erik [Riss] into their side and so are unquestionably a very tough side and they will be determined to prove that. But somehow that could bring out the best in us and I think that augurs well for a great meeting.  No wonder that BSN have chosen to broadcast it. "
