Preview: Poole v Swindon double header

26/05/19

The No1 Carpet Cleaning Poole Pirates will be forced to go into their Bank Holiday battle against Swindon without in-form Brady Kurtz.

The Australian star has been ruled out of tomorrow’s double header against the Robins after sustaining injuries in a nasty spill during Thursday’s narrow Premiership defeat at Peterborough.

Kurtz was charging hard in heat 13 at the East of England Arena when he crashed and is now awaiting the results of a scan on his shoulder.

Ipswich racer Richard Lawson will replace Kurtz at Wimborne Road (12pm), but due to fixture congestion in the evening, the Pirates will be forced to use rider replacement at the Abbey Stadium (7.30pm).

Pirates co-promoter Danny Ford said: “Obviously it’s far from ideal being without Brady as he’s been in such incredible form this season so far.

“But the important thing is he rests up and gets back to full fitness.

“Richard Lawson is stepping in, which we are extremely grateful for, but we’ll have to use rider replacement for Brady at Swindon in the evening as every club apart from Ipswich is racing.

“Swindon are potent opposition at any time but going into two meetings against them without our most in-form rider makes it even tougher, so we really need the supporters behind us.

“I know if they bring the noise then that can help us get revenge for that defeat on Good Friday.”

The Robins, meanwhile, will have new signing Ellis Perks in their ranks after the Brit was drafted in to replace former Pirate James Shanes at Blunsdon.

Tobiasz Musielak also returns for Alun Rossiter’s side after missing their recent defeat at Belle Vue with a shoulder injury.

Pirates (at home): Jack Holder, Richie Worrall, Nicolai Klindt, Josh Grajczonek, Richard Lawson (guest), Nico Covatti, Nikolaj Busk Jakobson.

Pirates (away): Jack Holder, Richie Worrall, Nicolai Klindt, Josh Grajczonek, Rider Replacement for Brady Kurtz, Nico Covatti, Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen.

Robins: Jason Doyle, Dawid Lampart, Tobiasz Musielak, Adam Ellis, Troy Batchelor, Zach Wajtknecht, Ellis Perks.
