HARBOUR MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP DATE CONFIRMED

The Poole ‘Wessex Marine’ Pirates have confirmed that Kyle Newman will remain in their lineup following a strong run of performances since initially joining the club on a 28-day agreement.
Newman was originally brought in to cover for Dan Gilkes, allowing the young rider time to recover and return to full fitness. However, after a series of impressive displays, particularly on home shale, the Pirates management have taken the decision to retain Newman in the side.
Gilkes, who made his comeback earlier this week for his Premiership club Leicester, recorded 1 point from four rides.
Pirates promoter Dan Ford admitted the decision was not an easy one, but praised both riders for their professionalism throughout the situation.
“Firstly, I’d like to thank Dan Gilkes for his professionalism throughout this situation. He has been fantastic to deal with and I’m gutted that we’re not able to welcome him into the Pirates lineup as intended at this stage. I truly wish Dan all the best and hope we can see him don the skull and crossbones in the future”
Ford was equally full of praise for Newman, whose performances have made a strong impression since returning to Wimborne Road.
“Kyle has come in and done a fantastic job for us, particularly at home where he’s been excellent, and that’s made the decision a more difficult one. We know there’s still more to come from him away from home, but on current form Kyle is keeping his place in the Pirates lineup and we’re looking forward to seeing him continue that progress in the coming meetings.”
The decision ensures continuity for the Pirates as they continue their campaign, with Newman now firmly established as part of the Poole side.
