Poole Pirates Announce Signing of Dan Gilkes
Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates are thrilled to confirm the signing of talented British rider Dan Gilkes for the upcoming season
A hand of fate has struck young Will Cairns and ruled him out of Wednesday night's Harbour Masters Championship at Wimborne Road.
15 year old Will, who becomes eligible to ride for the Pirates from the end of the month, damaged his hand whilst riding for the Belle Vue Colts at the weekend.
Whilst he withdrew immediately from that NDL meeting he had hoped to have been recovered in time for his competitive debut on Wednesday, but informed promoter Dan Ford that he will not be ready in time.
"It's a major blow for Will who was really looking forward to the meeting and of course it is a great disappointment not to have him in the line up. We have moved to bring in Paul Starke as a replacement so both our present reserves will be in action and undoubtedly there are others in the field looking to impress on us for future contracts."
The line-up has now been completed with Nathan Hargrave filling the vacant number sixteen position.
