Same week, different cast, better conditions, and all-round improved performance saw Poole avenge for their 9 point defeat sustained on Monday with a near-win of their own. Instead it It was the fourth time this season the Dorset side have drawn away and just as happened at Leicester they saw a victory denied them due to a calamitous last heat.

Having put themselves in the driving seat courtesy of two 5-1 heat advantages in 12 and 13 the Pirates held the upper hand despite opponent Lewis Bridger beating Kyle Newman in heat 14, the young Poole reserve having been unbeaten in his immediate four previous rides. But the Pirates couldn't quite hold on to their 4 point lead going into heat 15 as skipper Maciej Janowski went down on the first turn and as the race continued partner, guest Peter Kildemand, slowed instantly and was stationary by the time the red lights came on as the Hammer pairing were approaching the stricken Janowski.

The situation had all the hallmarks of a match-saving 5-0 for the Hammers but referee Carrington viewed that Kildemand had been impeded by Janowski and so allowed him back into the re-run as Poole's only representative. It was a decision that infuriated the home fans and their fury was further fired when Kildemand nipped out and led proceedings. Until that was the final turn when Bridger charged through and amidst further suspicion of contact Kildemand dropped a chain and his lack of momentum allowed Danny King to steal second place and salvage a draw on the night.

It was a dramatic conclusion to a meeting that had Kyle Newman in continued superlative form and excellent guest contributions from both Cameron Woodward and Peter Kildemand. The former two banking a vital 5-1 advantage in heat 4 to arrest the threat of Lakeside running away with the affair after two successive 5-1 scores backed up a shared heat one.

Heat 7 saw Newman and Grajczonek close the gap further after a brace of shared heats both won by the home crew but Vaclav Milik's literal up and down night continued in heat 8. He had anticipated the start in heat 3, looped and fell off the back of his machine and then benefited from a last lap fall by Danny King after having been passed by him in heat 5. In heat 8 he was unable to fend off the late challenge of Lawson and Lakeside were able to restore their four point lead.

Benji Compton, victim of a heavy fall in heat 2 which had left him shaken, was forced to withdraw from the meeting leaving Kyle Newman to battle out heat 9 alone, a task that was accomplished with superiority. Milik then picked up a crucial heat 10 point passing Summers to force a heat draw but then Grajczonek surrendered his third place to Lawson in heat 11, a dropped point that was in the final analysis to prove costly, as the Pirates began to take charge with back-to-back 5-1's from heats 12 and 13 before Bridger's two-on-the-bounce wins under those dramatic circumstances.
