GRAND PRIX: WARD KEEPS POLES APART

25/04/14

World Championship Grand Prix racing hailed its 32nd winner when Krzysztof Kasprzak claimed his first ever GP win in a blistering final as he completed a great night's performance and wiped out the curse of 2013 when he left the Bydgoszcz circuit pointless.

Kasprak had to be at his very best in that final heat to keep out the efforts of Darcy Ward who opted to miss practice due to his discomfort with the knee injury that he sustained in the opening round in Auckland. Ward was hunting a route round the outside after attempting one of his trademark inside switches which he failed to pull off. Ward's second place came at the expense of Jaroslaw Hampel with Greg Hancock who along with Kasprzak was joint top scorer from the heats.

Pirate Chris Holder earned a semi-final spot where he was eventually eliminated by Hancock and Ward.
