STARKE HAPPY TO BE BACK

Paid twelve scorer in last season's KO Cup Final first leg at Sandy Lane, Oxford, Tobias Thomsen is looking to keep that momentum going when the Wessex Marine Pirates head to track for their long awaited first fixture of the season on Wednesday (16th April).
The Pirates begin their defence of the BSN Series title they won last season (along with the Cup and League for a remarkable treble) and again this season feature in the same Southern Group which also includes Plymouth.
Thomsen, who made his Pirates debut last year admitted " Of last year, I know it was very turbulent, but in the end we've got to focus on the finish and the finish was almost perfect. I spent the winter trying to sort things out and yeah, I'm glad with what we have in the place now and I am looking forward to going out and doing it on the bike."
"Whilst I have set myself some targets, the main thing is to take it heat by heat and just go full throttle. That's how I roll. I think this year might be a bit easier for me. I'm a bit more wiser know what to do and what not to do. Also I have been to most of the tracks now and it's going to be a bit more helpful for me to get there now and get going in the first heat. I just want to get going. Its been frustrating waiting around for the season to start but we will soon get going. I am looking forward to getting the number one spot in the first heat That will be perfect for me."
Thomsen also promised the supporters that he remains as keen as ever to put a smile on their faces and so there will certainly be some post race celebrations to expect. "I want people to be able to go home happy from the meetings, that is the main thing, and if I can help achieve that then I will be happy too."
The Cheetahs have already sent out a marker for the 2025 season, as they tasted track action last Wednesday (9th April), inflicting a twenty point defeat on Scunthorpe in their home leg of the opening round of the MAXiCab Knockout Cup, with Dan Gilkes and Jordan Jenkins both going through the card unbeaten by an opponent and number one Sam Masters only dropping a single point
After Wednesday night's meeting the two sides will regroup on Good Friday when Wimborne Road opens its doors for the first competitive time in 2025 (6pm Friday 18th April).
