FORD HOPING FOR REPEAT OF FAVOURITE SEASON

3/04/25

Embarking on his sixth season at the helm of Poole Speedway, promoter Dan Ford is hoping that the forthcoming campaign will be as enjoyable as the club's treble-winning campaign of 2024.

Ford told a gathering of sponsors, season ticket holders and media outlets at the club's Press and Practice Day that "last year was absolutely phenomenal, my favourite year. We had a fantastic team and those finals against Oxford were some of the best meetings I have ever seen. Tensions were high and it was great to be involved with.  But we knew we would have to make team changes and our task was made a little bit easier with the decisions of Tom (Brennan) and Ben (Cook)   to move on from the Championship. But to try and find two heat leaders is no easy task especially when you have to lose six and a half points of your team average, but bringing in Lewi (Lewis Kerr) and Anders (Rowe) I am confident we can fill that void and rekindle that treble winning magic."

During the winter months Ford claimed there had been some "additional work done to the track, in particular a subtle change to the third turn" to help with drainage which has been a perennial issue for the club. He admitted "I am interested to see how it rides now that we have done the work, of course we are somewhat restricted here by what we can do as we don't own the stadium however, overall I feel the track is in very good shape and probably around 95% of making this track the best it can possibly be."

The Pirates season gets underway with an away trip to Oxford on Wednesday 16th April before the doors open officially at Wimborne Road on Good Friday (18th April, 6pm) in the return, both fixtures in the BSN Series.
