Poole have finalised their 2025 starting line-up with the addition of Australian rider Matt Marson, joining their treble-defending campaign.
Marson joins the Pirates on a temporary basis, with rising star William Cairns set to take over once he becomes eligible for a professional licence on 29th June.
Poole promoter Dan Ford shared his enthusiasm, saying: "We’re delighted to welcome Matt to Poole. This is a opportunity for him to gain valuable Championship experience and showcase his talent on this stage. Both parties see this as a positive step, Matt is eager to make his mark and put himself in the shop window, and we’re confident he’ll make the most of his time with us. Our amazing supporters will undoubtedly give him a warm welcome at Wimborne Road."
Marson himself expressed his excitement, saying: "I'm excited to join Poole; it's a great team—they prove it every year. It will be amazing to be part of a club with such a rich history. I know I'm only here for a dozen or so meetings, but it's a good opportunity to get myself in the shop window and gain more experience. A few people have raised eyebrows, but who's going to say no to more meetings and more time on the bike?"
Joining the Pirates on a 2.00 average, Marson will occupy one of the reserve berths alongside seasoned racer Paul Starke. The Pirates’ 2025 septet is now complete, with Richard Lawson, Lewis Kerr, Zach Cook (C), Anders Rowe, and Tobias Thomsen rounding out the line-up.
