PREVIEW: HARBOUR MASTERS ATTRACTS PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE PIRATES

1/06/25

The Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates hand the stage on Wednesday night, as the newly launched Harbour Masters Championship will be contested.

It is a meeting that features not only a British number four but also a newly acclaimed world number five and has a blend of Pirates past, present and future.

Looking ahead to the meeting, promoter Dan Ford said, "I am very pleased with the field that we have been able to assemble for our first Wessex Marine-sponsored Harbour Masters Championship, although it has been subject to several revisions, and we still need to finalise one place."

"In Vinnie Foord we have a past Pirate and it doesn't need me to remind fans just how exciting he can be. Darryl Ritchings is a current Pirate of course and just a quick glance back to last Wednesday tells its own story about Darryl's capabilities; a match winner with his seven points against Plymouth here. And then of course we have the lad that so many fans are eager to see reach sixteen years, current British Under 21 number four, William Cairns, at least one rider who fits the category of a future Pirate.

As for the world number five, that of course is fifteen year old Cooper Rushen who is turning as many heads as young Will is and we are delighted to have him in the field.

Those four riders alone are likely to put on a special show but add to that the likes of Sonny Springer, Ashton Vale, Ben Trigger and the more experienced Ben Morley, then this really does promise to be a meeting not to miss.

"I really hope our fans turn out in good numbers to give these lads the encouragement and support they fully deserve. When we staged a junior meeting last season we witnessed some good racing and I believe we can surpass that this year.

"I am grateful to Wessex Marine for their support in this meeting. Dave Adams is a real ambassador for supporting the stars of tomorrow and the sport should be very thankful to this local company for their backing."

Admission prices for the meeting, for which season tickets are NOT valid will be

Adults £16, Concessions and OAP £14, Student (16+ with student card)  £7, Children (11-16) £4, Under 11s FREE.
