PREVIEW: HARBOUR MASTERS ATTRACTS PAST PRESENT ...
The Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates hand the stage on Wednesday night, as the newly launched Harbour Masters Championship will be contested.
Although holding a first leg advantage the Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates are only too aware that there is work to be done before they can secure their place in this season's Grand Final, as they seek to keep their Treble dream alive.
The Dorset side travel to Workington on Saturday (3pm) nursing a fourteen point advantage from Wednesday night's home leg but team manager for the tie, Danny Ford is wanting the side to 'keep the momentum' going and insists "we head to Workington with a 14-point lead, but we're not just looking to defend that. We will be pushing for the win on the 'night'. With Charles Wright, Jason Edwards and Dan Thompson guesting, Workington will be a very strong side, especially on their home track. But our boys are up for the challenge, and we are fully focused on getting the job done and securing our place in the final."
The Pirates have established a fresh six match unbeaten spell. They go in to Saturday's contest unchanged from the first leg, whilst, as Ford alluded to, the Comets will cover for their injured trio of Craig Cook, Claus Vissing and Tate Zischke with Wright, Thompson and Edwards.
Poole lead 52-38 from the first leg and should they achieve that goal of reaching their third final of the season they will meet the winners of the other semi-final, Oxford or Scunthorpe, who have still yet to complete their first leg after attempts to stage it on Wednesday fell victim to the weather. Those sides race at Scunthorpe tonight (Friday) with the second leg now added to the schedule for next Wednesday.
