BATTLING VINNIE SUFFERS WRIST FRACTURE

27/06/24

Poole reserve Vinnie Foord sustained a fractured wrist in his final ride of Wednesday night's National League Riders' Championship and now faces an anxious wait as to how long he might be sidelined.

Dan Ford, club promoter at Poole Speedway said "everyone who was at the meeting on Wednesday will have seen Vinnie's dreadful crash and I think we were all very relieved to see him walk away from it. He was reporting pain in his hand at the time but that rapidly became much worse and he took the precaution to report to A&E on his way home, where it was diagnosed that the extent of his injury was worse than first thought. He is booked in for a further appointment on July 3rd to determine whether or not he will require surgery or not. Obviously, this has ruled him out most definitely for our next meeting against Edinburgh on Wednesday and we will then see how things develop.

Our thoughts are with Vinnie right now and I am sure I speak on behalf of all fans when wishing him a speedy recovery. He may have only recently joined us but I feel he has made an instant impact with the supporters. His racing attitude is first class and as we saw last night, before that crash, that he has the ability to be a real force in the sport.

Vinnie was leading the event unbeaten after all riders had taken three rides a piece and finished the night just missing out on a potential rostrum spot after a third place in his fourth ride before that dramatic crash.
