TOP TOM TO TAKE WILD TRIP TO CARDIFF!

8/06/24

Tom Brennan has confirmed himself as this season's British GP wild card when the prestigious event takes place at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff on August 17th, after picking up a bronze medal at the Attis Insurance Sports Division British Final.

Tom secured a direct route to the Grand Final as the highest scorer in the heats, banking thirteen out of a possible fifteen and was joined by hat-trick title seeking Dan Bewley. Four past Poole riders - Tai Woffinden, Chris Harris Steve Worrall and Adam Ellis all qualified for the last-chance saloon heat, with previous three-time winner Woffinden producing a quality pass to go by the early two leaders Worrall and Harris, the latter holding on to second to make it through.

Brennan was facing a trio of riders who held eight British Championship titles between them, but knew he only had to beat Harris to book his GP pit berth. Woffinden made the early running but Bewley, who had plenty of pace throughout the meeting, was determined to retain the crown he had won for the past two seasons and made a superb inside move at the commencement of the third lap to go under Woffinden to become the fifth rider to win the title in three consecutive seasons.

A delighted Brennan said "I had a fantastic night, just a shame I couldn't go the extra step but I guess that is mainly down to experience. I mean, if you look at the three guys next to me they obviously know how to handle the situation.  My team did fantastic today and thanks to my family and sponsors who have got me here, but obviously I still have a way to go and those boys showed me the way to do it in the final. But definitely we'll keep working and Cardiff is something very special for British riders and it is a massive occasion for myself. To rock up against the best riders in the world is obviously my dream so for me it is going to be a massive experience  I am going to take this opportunity with both hands."

Result: 1st D.Bewley 12 (3, 2, 3, 2, 2), 2nd T.Woffinden 10+3 (3, 2, 1, 3, 1), 3rd T.Brennan 13 (3, 1, 3, 3, 3), 4th C.Harris 10+2 (2, 1, 2, 3, 2), 5th S.Worrall 11+1 (2, 3, 1, 2, 3), 6th A.Ellis 9+0 (2, 0, 3, 1, 3); 7th R.Lambert 9 (3, 0, 3, 1, 2), 8th C.Wright 8 (XO, 3, 0, 3, 2), 9th A.Rowe 7 (1, 1, 2, 0, 3), 10th K.Howarth 6 (2, 3, 0, 1, 0), 11th C.Cook 6 (1, 3, 1, 0, 1), 12th C.Mountain 6 (0, 2, 2, 2, 0), 13th J.Jenkins 5 (1, 1, 2, 0, 1), 14th L.Kerr 4 (0, 2, 0, 1, 1), 15th D.Kemp 4 (1, 0, 1, 2, 0), 16th S.Lambert 0 (0, 0, 0, 0, R)
