REACTION: COOKS STEER PIRATES INTO CUP FINAL

With the weeks rapidly ticking away to the time he can resume his British racing career, Tobias has been working hard back in his homeland, fully intent on being a Poole Dane to be proud of
Tobias has explained his training regime, revealing "I have been preparing for the season in much the same way as I would for any league by doing high pulse training. Personally, I don't do a lot of long runs but every night before bedtime I do interval training out in the forest to get myself in to some really good condition for the season. I am also focusing a lot on my weight and I want to be as low as possible before the season starts."
Mentally too, Tobias has been focused on being as prepared as possible for his first return to England since a brief spell with Birmingham in 2019, revealing, "I have spent a lot of time watching footage from Poole but not just limited to the Poole track. I have been studying other tracks too. Fortunately, I had that short spell with Birmingham in 2019 and I learnt a lot of tracks then. But I feel more and more there are similarities, especially with the Championship tracks, with European tracks. You have Workington, for instance, which on footage looks a big easy track to go round and even Poole looks to me a bit like a European track. Obviously you have, like, Plymouth which I think will be the most difficult to go to and then there is Edinburgh and Berwick. I've been to those two and they are tough ones, though fun ones, but don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to the challenge. I like the tough tracks as I always like to challenge myself. I like the deep tracks and I like the rough tracks so I am going to be in for a treat for sure".
"It is all positive from me and I am determined to come over there and absolutely kill it. I am going for it. That is the plan. It is an important season for me. I will be flying in and out as I am keeping my job going over here and I also have a family to look after. I have my wife and son Tyler and another son on the way, so the family life for me is good but of course I need to provide for them as well, besides racing. "
Although Tobias shares a surname with 1984 Pirate Finn Thomsen, who is the sixth best Poole scoring Dane, he is no relation to him, but admits "it would have been a true honour to have been".
Finn scored 218 points in the one season he rode for Poole and other notable Danes are:
Bjarne Pedersen 3753.5 points in 10 seasons, Hans Andersen 1168 points (5 seasons), Nicolai Klindt 584 points (3 seasons), Tom Knudsen 340 points (3 seasons), Leon Madsen 301 points (2 seasons), Brian Jakobsen 233 points (2 seasons).
Tobias will make his Poole debut on Friday 29th March when the Pirates host Oxford in the BSN Series (7.30pm).
