Seven Weeks and Counting

With seven weeks to go to the Wessex Marine Pirates opening fixture of the season, the seven riders appointed to regain the Cab Direct Championship title are all busy preparing themselves for the visit of the Oxford Cheetahs.
The Good Friday meeting at Wimborne Road promises to be the perfect opening test for the Pirates and will get underway at 7:30pm.

With Poole having retained three riders from the class of 2023 - skipper Ben Cook, number one Richard Lawson and Zach Cook - they will have four debutants for this BSN Series Southern Group fixture - Tom Brennan, Tobias Thomsen, Sam Hagon and Max Perry.

In contrast, the side journeying down the A34 on Good Friday consists of riders who all rode in last years Championship Cheetahs side, including bit part players Luke Killeen and Ashton Boughen who both were used at reserve on a number of cases.

Sam Masters, Scott Nicholls, Cameron Heeps, Jordan Jenkins and Henry Atkins were all "seasoned" campaigners in the Cheetahs second term, after the club was revived in 2022.
Since there return to the British Speedway scene 'derby' rivals Oxford have made six appearances at Wimborne Road, with their 'best' result coming on 3rd August 2022 when they came within six points of the Pirates.

Tickets on sale 1st March
