Worrall Wins Ticket To Cardiff

14/08/23

Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates skipper Steve Worrall will be the wild card at the British GP at Cardiff on September 2nd after finishing second in the 2023 British Final.

Retaining his title Dan Bewley was crowned champion and as he is already a permanent member of the Grands Prix, Worrall gets the ticket for the marquee meeting of the British season.

The Pirates had two riders in the Grand Final with Richard Lawson winning the semi-final to join Bewley and Worrall who had finished the heats as the top two scorers. Lawson missed out on a rostrum spot when he fell, with Ben Barker, who like Lawson came through from the semi-final, finishing third.
The delighted wild-card winner said "It's a good job I hadn't brought any tickets yet. Although I am not British Champion, which would have been nice, I have got a trip to Cardiff so I can't complain. I've been there as a reserve before, but nobody did anything that night so I didn't get a ride but I will now this year."

The meeting was held under very heavy track conditions which made making decent starts a  premium.
