Two 'Wessex Marine' Pirates have been named in the Team GB squad for the forthcoming Speedway World Cup which is being staged this month.
Both Steve Worrall and Anders Rowe have been included in the nation's eight man squad with team managers Simon Stead and Oliver Allen having to whittle their choices down to a starting line up of four, plus one reserve for the semi-final being held in Wroclaw on July 25th, where Team GB face Sweden, Czech Republic and Germany. The winners of that meeting will head directly to the final on July 29th, with the nations finishing second and third in that semi-final having a second-chance of reaching the big night through the race-off meeting on July 28th.
Worrall and Rowe have been named along with triple world champion Tai Woffinden, and his current GP rivals Dan Bewley and Robert Lambert. Two former Pirates, in GP star and Cardiff winner Chris Harris and 2021 British Champion, Adam Ellis have also been included in the squad which is completed by Tom Brennan.
Any squad member not called upon for the semi-final may still be included in the latter stages of the competition, should a nation progress.
