PREVIEW: POOLE v GLASGOW - BSN Final

3/07/23

Cup Fever and 'Bomber' Harris will be at the Wimborne Road stadium on Wednesday when the Wessex Marine Pirates host the first leg of the BSN Series Final.

Originally scheduled to be the deciding leg, this meeting takes on a slightly different guise following the postponement of last Friday's planned trip, but Poole promoter Dan Ford doesn’t believe that will have any impact on the importance of the meeting. "Wednesday night probably has a slight extra edge to it now as we only have one option and that is to post as big a score as possible to put us in a strong position to lift the trophy when we eventually go to their place. But nothing changes in so far as our approach.

"We know how difficult it will be against the Tigers who, like ourselves, have once again put together a strong outfit. They are solid enough with the like of [Ben] Basso, Tom Brennan and Claus Vissing but they also have that secret weapon of Bomber [Chris Harris].

"Nobody can fail to recognise the pure class of that guy and especially when he is on-stage here at Poole strutting his stuff. He has been responsible for breaking us before, and equally been a home hero. It doesn't matter with Bomber, he only has one setting and that is an out-and-out racer who so regularly produces the goods which always makes him a pleasure to watch.

"Our lads believe in their own ability and the good thing, in a way, is that collectively, we have not seen all our riders at their individual best too often this season, and the determination is there to make it happen. This is a cup final and those two words just up the ante that extra bit  and I am sure those that turnout at the stadium on Wednesday night will be in for a thrilling meeting.

The Pirates, for the first time in 2023, are forced in to a positional change with Richard Lawson now assuming the number one race jacket under the July averages, as he outpoint Steve Worrall by 0.64 of a point.  In those July averages, Chris Harris underlines his strength as he is the third highest averaged rider in the division.
Wednesday is an all-pay meeting and is not included in the Season Ticket offer.
