Pirates Hope for "Ritch (Pick)ings"
Swindon-born Darryl Ritchings is adding a third club to his 2025 season by agreeing to step into the Poole side for a temporary period.
The scheduled first leg of the SGB Championship Grand Final has been postponed due to current track conditions and an extremely unfavourable weather forecast for Friday.
In announcing that the meeting will now be deferred until Wednesday 26th October and will become the second leg, with the Pirates travelling to Leicester on Saturday 22nd October as originally planned, promoter Dan Ford explained "we have had a lot of rain this week and the track can barely take any more. The forecast for Friday is horrendous and so we have taken the decision to call-off the meeting as early as possible in a bid to avoid inconveniencing anyone.
We will go again on Wednesday, a date we had set aside for the Jubilee trophy and we will be confirming a revised date for that competition in due course."
The Grand Final between the Pirates and the Leicester Lions pits the defending champions against the side that finished the regular league programme top of the table, by a margin of seven points over the Pirates. In league combat the Lions secured the double over the Pirates (an aggregate score of 95-85) whilst the Pirates secured a 104-76 aggregate victory when the two sides met in the semi-finals of the KO Cup, a competition that the Pirates went on to win.
