NEW DATE FOR OXFORD CLASH
The Good Friday postponed clash between Poole and Oxford has now been rescheduled for Wednesday 7th May 19:30hrs.
The 2022 SGB Championship winners will be decided on Saturday 22nd October when defending champions Poole will travel to league leaders Leicester Lions for the second leg of the final.
Poole will host the first leg the previous night on Friday 21st October, making it a big weekend of title action.
Explaining the rationale behind the Pirates switching race nights for their home tie, Poole boss Dan Ford said "On the Wednesday of that week AFC Bournemouth have a home game against Southampton. We recognise that we have a number of supporters who also enjoy following the Cherries and so a clash of dates isn't really a sensible move. Furthermore, it makes it difficult for us as a club with our stewarding arrangements and so we feel that this is the best solution all round. It is also my intention, if we can attract sufficient numbers, to run a coach to the second leg on the Saturday. I believe that we should be able to attract sufficient numbers to make this a viable proposition, as it is a grand final after all. Every trophy is important to us, but the prestige of being crowned league champions is always that much greater and so the more support we can give the boys the better. I know that our lads would appreciate a good vocal backing for that meeting. Hopefully we will be going there with our treble dreams firmly alive."
Anyone interested in the coach travel should email office@poole-speedway.com as soon as possible so that an assessment of numbers can be made.
The Pirates are also hopeful of shortly being in a position to announce the dates for the Jubilee finals.
