FORD REFLECTS ON LATE CALL-OFF

8/09/22

Poole promoter Dan Ford wishes to apologise to all supporters who made the trip to Wimborne Road on Wednesday night, only for the meeting to be postponed prior to the gates opening.

Ford admits, "We really wanted to get the meeting on and were extremely hopeful of doing so as we were following the forecasts throughout the day, which in all fairness were not too bad. The track had been holding up as we had no rain at all and plenty of sunny intervals. So much so that, mid-afternoon we had to get the water-bowser out to dampen down the track. But unfortunately, we were beaten and my gamble didn't pay off when a torrential storm came just twenty minutes prior to us opening the gates. It was such a volume of rain that it just deluged the circuit which would have taken a good few hours to clear all the standing water, once the rain stopped and so I was forced to make the decision to postpone.

"I apologise to all the supporters who made the effort to get here but I can honestly say there was no justification for an earlier postponement given the conditions. All of our advance ticket sales are being processed for refunds so supporters who did purchase and are intending to to attend next Wednesday's restaging will need to make a new purchase.  Hopefully, the majority of supporters will be able to come back next week. It promises to be a tough meeting as Plymouth are hoping to have more of their own riders available for the meeting. Provided that the weather doesn't intervene again, then we should be in a position of getting a verdict next Wednesday as to which of the two South West sides - and I sincerely hope it will be us - go through to the play-off semi-finals, as the first leg is being staged at Plymouth on Tuesday."
