MIDDLO'S FIELD ALMOST COMPLETE

25/08/22

Neil Middleditch has almost completed his Testimonial line up with just under a week to go before his hand-picked teams take to the track at Poole Stadium on Wednesday 31st August.

CLRC finalists Ryan Douglas and Sam Masters, have now confirmed their availability, whilst, for Poole fans, there will be even more of a Pirates flavour as Wimborne Road ‘Whiz Kids’ Ben and Zach Cook have been named too.

Regrettably though Adam Ellis has had to withdraw, with his place now to be taken by Scott Nicholls “Ryan and Sam have been saying, all along, that they would be OK to do the meeting”, said a grateful Middleditch. “We have been holding on before announcing them just in case it didn’t work out but they were determined to be here. Scott (Nicholls) was dead keen to be included from the start but he had a fixture commitment. When that got cancelled, he was straight on the phone to see if I could fit him in!
Obviously Adam (Ellis) is gutted that he can’t attend but we all saw what happened last weekend when he crashed at the SGP in Cardiff and we know he has no choice”.
For the Pirates duo of the Cook brothers, it was an easy pick for Middlo. “These guys live with me and they are just such great boys. I‘m really pleased to give them the chance to ride in front of their home fans and in such a special evening”.
There will be plenty of Poole interest on the night now with five of the current team involved but it doesn’t end there. Middleditch has said that there will be many former Pirates on show too as several of his former colleagues, both as a rider and now as a manager, will be in attendance.
“It should be an autograph collectors paradise on the night”, says Middlo who admits that his first taste of speedway led him to be ‘that kid’ collecting the signatures of riders who were his early heroes.
Sadly, Chris Holder sustained serious injuries last weekend that will now rule him out of the meeting. Middleditch is aiming to name his replacement at the weekend saying, “It’s just terrible for Chris. I know how much he was looking forward to being in front of the Wimborne Road crowd again and now this. He’s badly knocked about and we just want to wish him the fastest recovery possible. It’s awful luck for him”.
