Pirates’ heat leader trio of Danny King, Steve Worrall and Richard Lawson have been added to the growing field of riders for Middlo’s Testimonial at Poole on 31 st August 2022, when the County Crest ‘All-Stars’ take on the Meridian Lifts ‘Heroes’ in honour of Pirates’ legendary former rider, now team manager, Neil Middleditch.
The three Pirates have spearheaded Poole’s defence of their Championship title this year and have been inspirational, both home and away. Team Captain, King and Worrall have both worn the number one race jacket, having topped the Pirate’s averages at various times during the season, whilst Lawson has etched his way into the hearts of the Poole faithful with a dazzling display since March, earning him a ‘Rider of the Night’ award on more than one occasion.
In describing the trio Middleditch said, “These three boys have been stalwarts for the Pirates all season and they have been leading by example, both on and off the track. It’s such a pleasure to work with them this year, especially as they have been entertaining us with some breath-taking exploits”.
“I’m absolutely delighted to have all three of them involved and there is no way I could have left them out of the line up! They are such an important part of our team spirit and I’m so pleased for the fans that they will get to see them racing in my big night”.
All three riders have appeared in the top 15 of the official August averages at Championship Level. As members of the 2021 double winning side, heat leaders King and Worrall scored nearly 700 paid points for the Pirates across all competitions and are well on their way to repeating similar returns this year.
Lawson has been a revelation since pulling on a Poole race jacket and has arguably had the best season of his career. Already Richard has posted nearly 300 points to his name.
The trio join Holder brothers, Chris and Jack along with Jason Doyle who have all been announced already.Middleditch is promising more names will be announced before the end of the week.
