REACTION: ARMADALE DEFEAT LEAVES FORD 'DISAPPOINTED'

9/07/22

Having seen the Pirates leave Armadale on Friday night without adding any league points to their cause, as they strive to secure an automatic play-off semi-final qualifying berth, Poole co-promoter admitted he was 'hugely disappointed'.

"I really felt that we should have got something out of this one, especially as we were leading at one stage, but they came back at us strongly. We needed to have done more ahead of heat fifteen as we knew that was going to be extra tough, so when we failed to get anything from heat fourteen it was hugely disappointing."
"But, we can't dwell on what happened, we have to put that behind us now as we face two really massive matches, with Berwick on Saturday and a home match against Glasgow on Wednesday. We need to put some league points on the board, our form hasn't been great of late and we have to react now and turn things around. We still haven't seen the best of the Pirates, all firing at once. There is still a lot to race for and we need to be at our very best, but we must start now."

The Pirates lost out to back-to-back maximum heat defeats by the Edinburgh Monarchs in races thirteen and fourteen which left them needing to secure the minimum of a heat share in the final race to be able to come away with a point. But Sam Masters, beaten in the opening heat by Steve Worrall, managed to work his way through the field to set up a 4-2 for the Monarchs to secure a 49-41 for them, which boosted their chances of reaching the play-offs, and leaving the Pirates six points adrift of second place Glasgow.
