PIRATES BOSS LOOKS IN ALL DIRECTIONS

17/04/22

Poole boss Danny Ford, initially disappointed that the club's unbeaten start to the 2022 season came to an end at Leicester on Saturday night, with the Pirates going down 42-48, took heart from the fact that the Pirates collected an away point to take their current league total to four points from two meetings.

"Having reflected on the outcome of Saturday, I must say that we did well to take a point home with us, and I don't think there will be too many clubs over the course of the season that will be able to claim that. They (Leicester) are a very good side, especially at home, and to come as close as we did, after all the result went to a last heat decider, with just paid three points across three riders, is encouraging. Unfortunately the Cook brothers couldn't work the track conditions out and we suffered for it. Once again though, our new boys Drew Kemp and Richard Lawson put in big contributions, supported by the reliability of Steve (Worrall) and Danny (King). It was a shame that Danny picked up that disqualification in the final heat but those things happen in speedway."
"There are enough positives to take from our Easter performances as we head to Oxford on Wednesday night and I can see that being a very competitive fixture. Obviously Oxford will feel they have a score to settle after we did them on Good Friday but we will doing our very best to come away with more league points. The sell-out crowd will have plenty to look forward to and I just hope that among that capacity there will be plenty of Poole fans cheering our lads on."
