NEW DATE FOR OXFORD CLASH
The Good Friday postponed clash between Poole and Oxford has now been rescheduled for Wednesday 7th May 19:30hrs.
Poole Speedway is just a few days away from introducing the side that they hope can defend the league and cup double achieved in 2021, when they stage their Annual Press and Practice day on Friday.
Sponsors, season ticket holders and members of the Press will gather at Wimborne Road on Friday afternoon for the opening function of the 2022 season, a campaign that has already begun for their top three stars, skipper Danny King, number one Steve Worrall and new signing Richard Lawson.
King rode in both the Josh Auty and the Lewis Kerr Testimonials over the weekend, claiming second place in Auty's meeting at Scunthorpe on Saturday before riding for the GB Champs side at Kerr's event where he scored four points in the team event.
His new Pirate team-mate for 2022, Lawson, represented the home team select side, scoring ten points, whilst Worrall rode for the All Stars team who finished second to winners Team Aussie, Worrall scoring six.
All three Pirates featured in the top scorers individual event meeting in the second semi final in which Lawson came out on top leaving Worrall third and King fourth, before then running a third place in the Grand Final, which was won by Sam Masters, the fourth member of that second semi final.
The Pirates top trio will be joined by Drew Kemp, Nathan Ablitt and the Cook brothers (Ben and Zach) at the Press launch which is scheduled to get underway at 1pm with riders due to take to track around 3pm.
The first meeting at Wimborne Road takes place next week when the Pirates team take on a Peterborough side to commemorate the Bjarne Pedersen Farewell meeting, advanced tickets for which are now on sale.
