The City of Glasgow is currently the host of COP and Cup Owners Poole will be heading to G22 territory on Tuesday for a very rare November speedway meetings, following the delays to the SGB Championship Play-off Grand Final.
It will be Poole's third attempt to make the trek North, as last Tuesday's meeting was washed out on the day and the hoped re-scheduling last Thursday received an early postponement on the eve of action.
But with forecasts much favourable, weather-wise, hopes are high that Poole's first meeting in the eleventh month of the year since their three-team Craven Shield final in 2000, at King's Lynn on November 1st.
Skipper Danny King is relishing the opportunity of converting the recent Knockout Cup success into a double winning year for the Pirates claiming "which ever club you race for you obviously have the goal of winning titles, but even more so when you sign for Poole as they are a great club and have enjoyed a lot of success over the years. We did the job in the cup last week but that is only half of it. We want to win the league title too, but we know how tough that is going to be. We have two very big meetings this week and so just need to push on like we have been doing all year."
The roll-over into November means that the Pirates are forced into a change of guest to cover for Stefan Nielsen, as Jack Thomas, booked for last week's planned meeting, is ineligible following the latest set of Green Sheet averages, that covers the league matches ridden up to and including the 23rd October which become effective from November 1st. Glasgow, Leicester, Kent, and Birmingham were the four clubs who rode league meetings after the October averages were established. Thomas went from a 4.67 figure to a current 4.91, which exceeds that of Nielsen's 4.79 and so the Pirates will call upon semi-final hero Zach Cook for his sixth appearance of the campaign.
The Grand Final is set to conclude at Wimborne Road on Thursday (November 4th) and the Pirates will be keen to be in a strong position by the time that fixture comes around and the message coming out of Dorset is COP – Come On Pirates!
