BREAKING NEWS: GRAND FINAL NOW TO BE RIDDEN NEXT WEEK

27/10/21

With no sign of a let-up in weather conditions, Thursday's scheduled re-staging of the first leg of the Play Off Grand final in Glasgow has been subjected to another early postponement, along with Friday's planned concluding leg at Poole, and that means the 2021 SGB Championship season is set to roll into November, with permission having been granted by the board of BSP Ltd to stage both legs of the Grand Final between Poole and Glasgow next week.

The first leg will now take place on Tuesday 2nd November in Glasgow and the second leg at Poole next Thursday (4th November).

Poole promoter Dan Ford explained, "Clearly this is not an ideal situation to have to call the meetings off this week, but the weather has not been great and the forecasts are far from encouraging. The Play-off Grand Final is the biggest meeting of the season for any club, and it is only right for it to be a memorable occasion. We have been monitoring the situation closely as both clubs felt that pushing through with these meetings for the sake of trying to beat the original deadline of the end of October, would not be in the best interests of the fans and riders of both clubs. We recognise that switching dates at relatively short notice, will have caused some inconvenience, but we would add, that, as a club, we felt that the title race should have been done and dusted by now. Unfortunately resolving the quarter finals took much longer than anticipated and we and Glasgow had to wait to get our semi-finals ridden. I think this is something that will have to be looked at closely for next season. But we have agreed with Glasgow for them to stage the first leg at Ashfield on Tuesday with the return at Wimborne Road next Thursday.
We can only apologise to supporters who might find these dates unsuitable and for any advanced ticket purchases that cannot attend on the new date then refunds will be granted of course. Otherwise, all purchased tickets will be carried over to the new date.
