PIRATES PREPARED FOR BRUMMIES BACKLASH

31/08/21

Having disposed of the threat of Birmingham's visit to Wimborne Road with a convincing victory on Sunday, the Pirates head for the Midlands tomorrow (Wednesday) knowing that they will be in for a tougher proposition on the Brummies' home patch.

Poole promoter Dan Ford is under no illusions that his side will be put through their paces, insisting that Sunday's performance will have no direct bearing on what happens at Perry Barr on Wednesday, although admits that the Brummies might be a little more fired up given that it will still be fresh in their mind. "When you get corresponding fixtures so close together it can be the case that a side you have just beaten might be a bit more determined to try and even things up but equally we will be just as keen to record a swift double over them. We have established ourselves in a strong position just now at the top of the table and that is where we wanted to be, and is where we want to stay. The best way to achieve that is to keep on winning and a victory will be our goal on Wednesday night, that's for sure."

The Pirates will be looking to their 'two Dans' for any inside information concerning the Birmingham track, for both King and Hume have plenty of previous experience to call upon. Skipper Danny King knows the place only too well, having made over one hundred appearances for the Midlands side between 2011 and 2014, whilst Poole's 'rising star'  Danyon Hume has gained plenty of experience at the track himself, having been a member of Birmingham's 2016 National League title and National trophy winning side.

The 25 year old has made solid progress since joining the Pirates this season having weighed in with a number of key performances, something  else that has especially pleased Ford "It has been great to watch Danyon this year, he has settled in so well with us and you can see just how much he is enjoying his speedway and I am certain that he will want to put another decent performance in on Wednesday."

Poole make the trip without latest recruit Ben Basso as the date clashes with the Danish league semi-final play-offs and so will operate rider replacement.

The Brummies will be looking to bounce back from their unsuccessful Bank Holiday weekend travel that left the pointless from visits to both Poole and Kent. They recorded their highest home score of the season the last time they rode at the Barr, beating Plymouth by eighteen points, but Poole will be keen to add their names to that of Glasgow and Scunthorpe, the two sides that so far have come away from the Midlands with a victory under their belt.
