TOUGH CALL FOR POOLE BOSSES AS MACDONALD LOSES TEAM PLACE

1/02/21

JOSH MACDONALD has become the unfortunate victim to lose his place in the Poole team, the consequence of a decision taken by BSP Ltd to introduce a policy of all British sides to field a young Brit at reserve, Poole promoter Dan Ford has regrettably announced.

"Whilst we are fully supportive of the 'rising star' scheme agreed at this year's Annual General Meeting as we feel it is a positive move for British Speedway, it  left us having to make a near impossible decision as to how we configured the lower end of our proposed team. We had to make a choice between one of the three Australians that we had signed up and it had to be a 'blind' call as none of them have had the chance to show us exactly what they are capable of."
"I can't find the true words to describe how both my Dad and I felt about having to choose which rider we would have to go without and it is with great reluctance that we had to inform Josh that we could not honour his team place for 2021, and his Pirate career would have to be stalled for now, at least. In all honesty, the final determining factor was the fact that, of the three, he was the one that was not our asset. We genuinely hope that he can find a team place with another club as he really does deserve a chance."

Ford added, "we are close to being able to confirm which young Brit we will be going with this season, but we anticipate that our fans will be as excited as we are with the 2021 team we are building.
