A STRONGER STEFAN FOR 2021

24/07/20

Once again, Stefan Nielsen has suffered a frustrated spell for Poole following Tuesday's decision to cancel the British Speedway season.

The UK Government's announcement that continues to preclude spectators being admitted to stadia for Elite Sports until October put paid to all hopes for a shortened season being an option for competitive speedway on these shores. And that means that Stefan, along with the other Pirates, will have to wait until 2021 before being in a position to pull on a Poole race suit again. His first spell with Poole lasted just four meetings before his 2018 season and he was relishing the chance of a return with club this term.

"It is obviously very sad news that there won't be any British Speedway league matches in 2020" Nielsen said, adding "A lot of time and effort from a lot of people has gone into trying to make things possible for us to go racing and whilst it has been extremely tough  for us riders just literally being on standby waiting for any news, we have to remember that we are not the only ones affected. The promoters, sponsors and supporters will all being missing the racing for sure.
It has been really frustrating but at the end of the day there is nothing we can do about it. Now the news is here we all have to adapt to that and find out what that means for us.

"Personally for me, it is a case of being extra prepared for 2021. My bikes have been ready for quite some time now, but on a physical level there is always improvements to be had and I can now focus on an extended winter break and come back fighting even stronger and more ready for the 2021 season."'
