PIRATES "UP FOUR" THE CUP

4/07/20

On Wednesday night (1st July), supporters would have witnessed Poole big guns Tony Rickardsson and Leigh Adams deliver a heat 15 maximum 5-1 to give the Pirates a 4-point aggregate lead in the 2003 KO Cup Final, leaving fans wondering whether that would be enough to see Poole complete a league and cup double.

For the second leg, the Coventry Bees were back to full seven-man complement with Mikael Max guesting for Billy Hamill, after operating rider replacement at Wimborne Road of the America, the two sides meeting 48 hours later and the defeated league play-off finalists determined to try and win some silverware against the Pirates.

Opportunities for supporters to follow another enthralling contest return on Wednesday night (8th July) with the premiere streaming commencing at 7.30pm as once again Clean Cut Sports and Speedway Portal link forces to re-live the action.

Poole co-promoter Dan Ford admitted "I was just a very young lad at the time but I remember my Dad being anxious as to whether we had done enough to win the cup after Coventry had pushed us so hard at home. I can assure Poole fans that the effort the lads channelled into the second leg was immense and it was an exciting meeting with plenty of twists and turns. It really is a meeting not to miss and so I hope many can log on to their streaming devices on Wednesday and enjoy another feast of speedway, whilst we continue to wait for the live stuff to resume."
