Eastbourne and Oxford had both been despatched in the earlier rounds of the 2003 Knockout Cup competition by the Pirates and that set-up a grand final against the Coventry Bees.
Coventry had seen off Peterborough (after a replay) and Wolverhampton on their way to the final and were to stage the concluding leg of the cup final.
So, on October 23rd for the second time in the month , the two sides having also contested the Elite League Play-off Grand Final, the Pirates opened their doors for another mouth-watering battle against the Bees.
Despite having won the play-offs the Pirates were cautious of Coventry as they had been one of just two sides to have inflicted a Wimborne Road defeat on the Pirates that season, having claimed a 43-47 victory back in March.
With the co-operation of Clean Cut Sports and Speedway Portal that first leg will be streamed on Wednesday 1st July 2020, with a premiere viewing at 7.30pm with Dan Ford explaining, "we will be streaming our cup finals over the coming weeks and we begin with this 2003 first leg, with the second leg being shown in a week's time (8th July). As we saw during our title success re-runs it is great to see such talent as Leigh Adams, Tony Rickardsson, Bjarne Pedersen, Mark Loram, Antonio Lindback and Ales Dryml in action and we are hoping that we will have a good number of fans tuning in on Wednesday."
