FORD REVEALS WHY NO WORYNA

2/01/19

Matt Ford admitted being unable to hand popular Pole Kacper Woryna a 2019 team spot had left him “extremely sad”.

Woryna turned in some impressive performances during his first season in the Pirates race jacket and was hugely popular with the Wimborne Road faithful.

However, Ford was unable to bring back the Rybnik racer for a second campaign due to a combination of “financial restrictions” and team-building decisions.
Ford said: “I’ve been left extremely sad by having to let Kacper go. I genuinely felt he would be with us for many seasons and I still believe, whether that’s in 2019 or beyond, he will be back with us and will have a huge part to play in the club’s future.
“Sadly with the financial restrictions this year, we’ve not been able to bring him in. That’s the main reason he’s not with us and it’s nothing to do with his ability.
“We also had only 10 points to play with for our final two riders and I opted to go for Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen and Richie Worrall because I wanted a team with strength in depth. We could have gone with Kacper, perhaps, but that would have left us with a 3.5-point man and I wanted us to be powerful at the bottom end.
Kacper won’t be starting for us in 2019 but as I say this now, I doubt he’ll be riding for anyone as he only wants to be at Poole, but that gives us a great option during the season should we need someone through lack of form or injury.”

Woryna ran 29 first-place heat finishes from 26 meetings in 2018 – topped only by number one Brady Kurtz who secured 42 heat wins.
