PIRATES PREPARING FOR PLAY-OFFS

28/09/18

As the 'Volvo Cars' Poole Pirates prepare for their play-off semi-final on Monday night, they will be hoping their captain, Josh Grajczonek can find the form he had in his opening three rides at Swindon on Thursday whilst guesting for Belle Vue.

Completing the league schedule of fixtures, Grajczonek was guesting for the Aces in place of injured Dan Bewley and was unbeaten after three rides under his belt, although failed to add to that tally in his heat 10 and 13 outings, as the Aces stormed to a 56-34 crushing of the Robins.

Grajczonek, who now holds the second highest average in the Poole side and is just 0.21 behind new number one Chris Harris, leads the Pirates on Monday as Poole look to cement their 10th appearance in the play-off finals. Poole go into the meeting needing to overcome a two point deficit after a more than commendable first leg performance at Somerset a fortnight ago, which swings the tie somewhat in their favour, after starting out as believed underdogs.

But the Pirates know they still have work to do for the Rebels have already tasted Wimborne Road success this season, having disposed of Poole in the Knockout cup, a competition in which the Rebels have gone on to reach the finals of.
