LIONS RETURN AS PIRATES KEEN TO PUSH ON

7/08/18

Powering their way to the play-off period the revitalised 'Volvo Cars' Poole Pirates will be keen to not take their 'foot of the gas' when they host the Leicester on Thursday night (7.30pm) at the Wimborne Road venue.

The Pirates, in the past fortnight or so, have recorded two trouncing victories over the Lions who are presently lingering at the bottom of the SGB Premiership table and beginning to lose touch with their six rivals. Victory for the Pirates this time around will give them a 'double double' over Leicester and also see them keep the pressure on table-topping Somerset who, during August they will meet no fewer than three times in league combat.

The Pirates have named an unchanged one to seven whilst Leicester will be without Charles Wright but have drafted in Swindon's David Bellego to guest, whilst they are also looking for cover for reserve Josh Auty who suffered a crash on Sunday, and whilst escaping serious injury, has been forced to sit out his forthcoming fixtures.

Former Pirate captain Hans Andersen leads the Lions into battle with the experienced Scott Nicholls and Stuart Robson - both recently signed from the folded Rye House club - joining Ricky Wells and Connor Mountain for the visitors.

Thursday marks the first of two swift Wimborne Road meetings for the Pirates as they will be back on Monday (13th) for the first of those encounters against leaders Somerset.

Teams from: Poole - Josh Grajczonek, Chris Harris, Nicolai Klindt, Brady Kurtz, Richie Worrall, Frederik Jakobsen, Kacper Woryna - Team manager Neil Middleditch
Leicester - Hans Andersen, David Bellego (Guest), Scott Nicholls, Stuart Robson, Ricky Wells, Connor Mountain, Guest to be Announced - Team manager Dave Darcy
