PREVIEW: LEICESTER V POOLE

29/07/18

Matt Ford has urged his Volvo Cars Poole Pirates charges to be wary of a Leicester revenge mission when the Dorset racers go in search of an away win that could propel them towards the SGB Premiership play-off places.

The Lions were dealt a 58-32 thumping at Wimborne Road on Wednesday, with the home side running in seven straight 5-1s.

But with British ace Scott Nicholls having issued a rallying cry to his team-mates ahead of tomorrow night’s clash at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena, Ford expects the Premiership’s basement side to respond.

Ford said: “It was a fantastic effort from us on Wednesday, but that result is gone now. Sometimes, the worst thing you can do is run riot against the opposition like we did, because you know they will want to come back at you the next time you meet.

“With us going to Leicester so quickly after Wednesday’s win, I fully expect them to want to give us a taste of our own medicine.

“If we can win all our home meetings and pick up a win or two away from Wimborne Road, I believe we will make the play-offs, particularly if we show the kind of form we did on Wednesday.

“We were superb to a man, but tomorrow is another day and the likes of Hans Andersen, who struggled a little on Wednesday, will be looking to put that right.”

Andersen goes into tomorrow’s meeting on the back of finishing 12th in Saturday’s GP Challenge meeting in Landshut.

Leicester: 1 Hans Andersen 2 Ricky Wells, 3 Charles Wright, 4 Josh Auty, 5 Scott Nicholls, 6 Stuart Robson, 7 Connor Mountain.
Poole: 1 Brady Kurtz, 2 Josh Grajczonek, 3 Richie Worrall, 4 Kacper Woryna, 5 Chris Harris, 6 Nicolai Klindt, 7 Frederik Jakobsen.

Please note, the club will be unable to provide live updates from tomorrow’s meeting at Leicester.
