WIMBORNE ROAD fans will have to wait a little longer before they can see the Pirates' latest signing, Richie Worrall, in action.
Worrall, a stand-in for the Pirates in 2017 returned to the club at the weekend and made his seasonal debut for the Pirates at Rye House on Monday night but 24 hours later was involved in a crash whilst competing in the British Semi-Final round at Leicester.
Despite that injury Worrall was still able to qualify for the British Final to be held at the National Speedway Stadium, Belle Vue on June 11. He bravely came out for the re-rerun of heat 16 and still managed a second place to add to his previous three race wins.
The round was eventually won by Richard Lawson who edged out Chris Harris on count back.
Rider replacement will operate for Worrall this evening.
Semi-final result: Richard Lawson 13, Chris Harris 13, Scott Nicholls 12, Lewis Kerr 12, Richie Worrall 11, Danny King 9, Ben Barker 8, Adam Ellis 8 (all qualify for British Final), Ashley Morris 6, David Howe 6, James Sarjeant 5, Kyle Newman 5, Ben Morley 4, Simon Lambert 3, James Shanes 3, Matt Williamson 1, Tom Woolley (res) 1.
