PREVIEWING: RYE HOUSE V POOLE - MONDAY 14TH MAY

Seven days after dropping to the bottom rung of the SGB Premiership ladder the re-vamped Volvo Cars Poole Pirates meet the side that sent them there, when they travel to Rye House on Monday (14th).

With 2017 stand-in Pirate Richie Worrall back for another covering spell for the Dorset club, promoter Matt Ford is hoping that the team's fortunes will quickly take a turn for the better.
"The last time we were sat at the bottom of the table we made changes and went on to claim the title so I wouldn't be writing the Pirates off just yet".
That was in July 2013 and the addition of Greg Hancock that season turned the Pirates' season around as they went on to claim the first of three successive top flight titles.
Ford has been driven to making this current change as Peter Kildemand's short-term arrangement has expired and there were too many fixture clashes for Ford to be able to extend the Danes' tenure.
"Peter did an excellent job for us and we are grateful for what he has done, but with the other European leagues now breaking into their stride there would be too many date clashes for us to keep Peter, so reluctantly we have agreed to let him go. With the situation regarding Chris Holder's eligibility still fluid we have had to make a further short-term plan and Richie certainly did us proud last year and I am sure he can do so again."

Monday's clash against the Rockets will be the first of two meetings between the two clubs this week as Poole host the visit of the Hertfordshire outfit on Wednesday.

There will be a number of familiar faces on the opposite side of the pits to the Pirates with Edward Kennett and Krzysztof Kasprzak having been part of the Poole operation last season whilst Scott Nicholls is another to have worn the skull and crossbones on contract during his long career. Spearheaded by Chris Harris the Rockets have a solid look about them and so Poole will be keen for the likes of captain Josh Grajczonek and Linus Sundstrom to discover the form that they are more than capable of doing so. The  latter began his British career with the Rockets and scored almost 800 points for them in 81 appearances.

The Pirates will have Stefan Nielsen back for his second meeting with the club, after having to pull out of last Monday's meeting at Swindon after damaging his leg in a double fall in heat 9.
