PIRATES DECLINE PREMIERSHIP KO CUP INVITATION
Poole Speedway has made the decision not to participate in the 2025 Premiership Knockout Cup. While the invitation was both unexpected and exciting...
BRADY KURTZ saw the opportunity of being crowned Australian Champion for the second time in his career slip through his fingers when beaten into fourth place in the Grand Final at the Heini Becker Motorsport Park at Gillman, New South Wales.
Kurtz strung together four unbeaten rides to edge into a slender series lead with a qualifying heat each remaining but was then beaten by his closest title rival Rohan Tungate when the pair met in heat 20. That left the duo on equal championship points.
But both riders had to give way to Poole asset Jack Holder who, having qualified from the B final, took the final round of the series. Tungate was second and Max Fricke claimed third place ahead of Kurtz in the final race of the night.
It left the Poole number one Kurtz two points shy of Rohan Tungate, who wins his first ever Australian title, with Fricke third overall and Holder 4th.
Defending champion Sam Masters saw any faint hopes he had of retaining his title fade when he suffered an ankle injury during the pre-meeting practice session which troubled him during heat one, the only race he appeared in.
