NICOLAI SECOND IN CHAMPIONSHIP PAIRS

20/07/18

NICOLAI KLINDT and his Workington team-mate Ty Proctor finished second in the SGB Championship Pairs event staged at Somerset on Friday evening.

A highly entertaining meeting, despite drizzling rain trying its best to upset proceedings, culminated in a second clash of the night between the Workington duo and eventual winners Sheffied, which featured two former Rebel riders - Charles Wright, released by the Somerset club earlier this year and Kyle Howarth.

Klindt who had scored in each of the Comets qualifying heats before cleverly leading Proctor home in the semi-fnal against Michael Palm-Toft and Scott Nicholls (Peterborough) couldnt get himself into the mix in the final which saw Proctor take the victory but the scoring system worked against the Cumbrian side as Sheffield ran out 5-4 winners.

The Steel City club won the event in 2017 with Lasse Bjerre partnering Howarth after the original staging at Somerset had been washed out, and so as with the Championship fours the two major second tier events this season have been successfully defended by the holders.

Poole's other representative in the meeting Chris Harris, had a night to forget scoring just 5 points for Glasgow.
