KYLE BACK FOR ROCKETS CLASH

Local Poole hero Kyle Newman will make his SGP Premiership debut on Wednesday when the VOLVO CARS POOLE PIRATES seek to bounce back from their  Bank Holiday home defeat.

Newman was injured prior to the Pirates getting their team season underway, a victim of a crash where he sustained shoulder damage in the abandoned Darcy Ward Invitational meeting in March, forcing the Dorset side to make changes. Poole boss Matt Ford looked towards Lewis Kerr as cover but from the outset made it clear it was always his intention to recall Newman once he was fully fit.

After a couple of showings for his Championship side Ipswich and riding in a British semi-final round, Newman has convinced Ford that he is ready to help the Pirates cause and the Poole chief admits "The replacement of Kyle was always conditional that we would look to bring him back in once he was ready and Lewis was always aware of that. However I have to say that I am sorry to have to release him as he did not disgrace himself or let us down in any way. He made my decision a very difficult one and I would like to thank him for that.

"Kyle has convinced me that he is ready to come back and be competitive at this level and he is such a popular guy amongst the Poole fans and I am sure he will receive a fabulous reception on Wednesday when we host Rye House needing to get back to winning ways".

One of the two new clubs to step up to top flight during the winter, the Rockets have already beaten Poole  this season ( 49-44) the Pirates collecting an away league point from that affair, but the last time the Poole team rode as a unit they failed, for the first time this season, to complete a league match without any reward.

The league table shows the Rockets a point ahead of Poole with the Hertfordshire side having ridden one fewer (5) meetings than Poole with Wolverhampton and Belle Vue ahead of them both.

Wednesday though will be only the Rockets second away league fixture of the campaign but with tried and tested performers such as Scott Nicholls, Chris Harris and Edward Kennett leading the way for the Rockets there is plenty of Wimborne Road track experience in the visitors camp, whilst Ricky Wells has settled in quickly as a replacement for former Pirate talisman Dave Watt.
