KEEN KERR COVERS FOR KYLE

28/03/17

Matt Ford has wasted little time in securing coverage for injured Kyle Newman, by signing wannabe Pirate LEWIS KERR as a replacement.

"Lewis kept in contact with me during the winter enquiring as to whether there could be a place for him in the Poole side" claimed Ford, " but unfortunately at the time the numbers just wouldn't fit. I couldn't fault his enthusiasm and so when we learned that Kyle would be sidelined for a significant period of time I turned to Lewis.
"I am really gutted for Kyle, it is another cruel and luckless blow to him and I know that he was keen to continue making progress this season. With the seriousness of the injury I couldn't risk operating rider replacement for a lengthy period, for whilst we managed to handle it reasonably well through Nicolai on Monday, it only serves to put added pressure on the side.
"Lewis is really keen to make his mark with Poole and for determination alone he deserves his chance with us."

Determination is a by-word for 27 year old Kerr as he demonstrated with his remarkable recovery from a serious injury of his own sustained during the 2015 Premier League Fours at Peterborough. Amidst early fears that his career might have been ended, Kerr stunned the speedway world when he signed for Ipswich last season. He steps into the Volvo Cars Pirates Poole team on a 5.98 average and is due to make his debut against Belle Vue next Wednesday (5th April).
